Bed Plans

Using bed plans for making your own bed and then sleeping in it is a great experience. Whether you are making a bunk bed, a loft bed, a canopy bed, a twin bed, a cot for your baby or any other sort of bed; it's really good fun.

With everyone shifting to small flats and apartments in today's world, space constraints have become a major issue. People always have more stuff and less space. The bunk bed is a great idea for children. They enjoy the 'adventures' associated with it and you can even build it on your own.

But before you do so, here are some things that you must decide.

For using bed plans and making your own bed can be fun but there are different levels of experience with the types of beds you can make.

Firstly, would your child like to sleep on a top bunk and get some more space to play or would he/she prefer a big bed.

Secondly, have you ever done any sort of construction work ever ?

Thirdly, do you have the time and the patience needed to build a bed. It can be a very cumbersome job and requires a lot of effort. One wrong cut and you might have to redo everything. So you must be prepared for any sort of mistakes, especially if it is going to be your first attempt at woodworking.

You will also need an assistant to help you lift the heavy pieces of wood and position them properly while making the bed. You must have one before you start.

Also, there are certain things that you must keep in mind before building a bunker bed for your kids. It is advised that such a bed should be made for children above six years of age. You must make the provision of a nightlight so that the child can see properly when he is going up and down the bed at night. And, most importantly, never encourage your child to come down the top bunk except by the ladder, it can be very dangerous.
